Homeschool Campout

Every summer, our support group meets together for a campout in our nearby mountains.

Something about roughing it together for a few days really bonds us, deepens friendships, and helps the dads get to know each other too.

One mom is in charge of the campout and she has a food committee that helps bring together delicious potluck meals. Most everyone sleeps in tents, so it is very desirable to be the family to arrive first and get your pick of the tent sites!

Everyone gets plenty dirty! Dads do the cooking, which suits the moms just fine.

In the evening of the first night, we sing around the campfire, put on skits, tell stories, roast marshmallows and play games. Moms enjoy a chance to stay up late and talk together, but sometimes that mountain air makes us too sleepy too.

Morning comes way too early, with so many little ones.

Hiking and ball games are part of the morning's activities as are water games if the weather is hot. We have an uncanny record of choosing a rainy weekend for our homeschool campouts, no matter what month we plan it in! Nevertheless, our homeschool campout is an event not to be missed!
